A realtor has access to the multiple listing service also known as the MLS. This is a service where your home can be viewed by thousands of buyers. Those without a realtor cannot get their homes on the MLS. They have to pay out of pocket to market their home. Not only do studies show a realtor can get your home sold at a higher price but also they can sell your home faster. On average, a home listed by a realtor will be sold in 69 days and a home sold by the owner will sell within 88. This is a big difference especially to those trying to sell their homes quickly. Negotiation is also a grey area when it comes to selling a home. A realtor is trained to negotiate on your behalf. They know what to say and how to approach a situation to get you the right deal.
