For Sale By Owners: Net Lower Profits

For Sale By Owners, also known as FSBOs, are a way of selling a home without a realtor. This is something I highly don't recommend. Not because I am a realtor, but because there are more negatives than positives during the process.
FSBOs tend to sell for lower prices than those homes sold through agents. On average, these homes sell for around $40,000 less. Many people choose to sell a home without an agent because they do not want to pay commission. Most of the time when the process is over, the loss in price is much greater than what the loss would be in commission.
For sale by owners not only on average result in a loss of profit, but also take longer to sell. Studies show that a home on the market without an agent takes 19 more days to sell. Real estate agents are able to sell homes more quickly not only because of their connections, but also because they market your home for you on multiple social networks. Agents dedicate their time and energy into selling your home, taking that stress off of you as the seller.
Making you money and getting your home sold quickly aren't the only benefits of working with an agent. An agent is also trained to negotiate and be the middle man between both parties. If owners decide not to work with an agent they must do all the negotiating themselves as well as know the legal ins and outs of a home sale.
If you or anyone you know is looking to buy or sell a home I would love to be of assistance. Please give me a call or shoot me a text at 317-650-5898 or email me at ermusleh@gmail.com
